TALK ABOUT IT TUESDAY

At Bonds, we focus on stories and narratives because they reveal the truth about the human experience. We use stories to make sense of the world and share that understanding with others to form connections.

For centuries, stories about women have been told by men and it’s time for women to tell their own stories. We need to reclaim our power through untold stories of women heroes…or rather sheroes.

On September 7th, Bonds Magazine spoke with Tosca DiMatteo on IG Live about the stories and narratives that no longer serve women and keep us small. Sylwia shared her experiences of growing up in communist Poland and reflected on the power of words and the impact they have on our psyche.

We looked at current events to see what is happening in Texas, where a small fraction of people with extreme views have hijacked a narrative and succeeded at imposing their will on women’s bodies and choices.

We discussed how taking up space and claiming our belonging is no easy feat, but through building a community of women storytellers, we can inspire and support each other to make our voices heard and our experiences known.

And in the midst of the interview, we encountered technical issues and Sylwia misquoted a tweet, and that’s okay because perfection is another false story and we are practicing embracing the beautifully flawed humanness of our experience.

To watch the conversation, click here, and see what bubbles up for you. What stories in your life are keeping you small? What stories of your own journey can you share to inspire other women?

At Bonds Magazine, we are continuously working to challenge false narratives of the past and those of the present. We are forever in search of the truth and seek to claim our place in the world, unapologetically.

And so she speaks and she shines!
